Set Up Cloud Environment for AWS¶
This guide will walk you through setting up the necessary environment that you will use throughout your installation to create cloud resources on AWS.
- An AWS account.
- An AWS IAM username.
- A default region for your profile in your AWS CLI configuration.
AWS_ACCOUNTenvironment variable by replacing
<YOUR_ACCOUNT>with your AWS account name:
root@rok-tools:/# export AWS_ACCOUNT=<YOUR_ACCOUNT>
AWS_IAM_USERenvironment variable by replacing
<USERNAME>with your AWS IAM username:
root@rok-tools:/# export AWS_IAM_USER=<USERNAME>
Retrieve the default region for your profile in your AWS CLI configuration, and export it as an environment variable:
root@rok-tools:/# export AWS_DEFAULT_REGION=$(aws configure get region)
(Optional) In case you already have a custom AWS configuration profile you want to use over the default one, export the
AWS_PROFILEenvironment variable by replacing
<CUSTOM_PROFILE>with your AWS profile:
root@rok-tools:/# export AWS_PROFILE=<CUSTOM_PROFILE>
You have successfully configured environment variables that you will later need to generate names for resources.
