Scale-in Kubernetes Cluster

Currently, the Kubernetes Cluster Autoscaler does not automatically scale in your cluster when using local volumes. We do however support scaling in a cluster which is running on EKS using our rok-k8s-drain tool. This section will guide you through scaling in a cluster using this tool.

What You’ll Need

Procedure

  1. Run rok-k8s-drain and follow the on-screen instructions:

    root@rok-tools:~# rok-k8s-drain

Verify

  1. Verify that the cluster has been scaled-down, by listing the nodes:

    root@rok-tools:~# kubectl get nodes

Summary

You have successfully scaled-in your cluster.
